Celebration of the Sacraments

Infant Baptism is celebrated upon request to the Parish Priest. Prior to Baptism parents of those to be baptised are invited to attend a few sessions of preparation with parishioners.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated upon request to the Parish Priest.

Children and parents are supported in helping to prepare children to celebrate the Sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist for the first time by catechists within the parish. A preparation programme takes place each year when a series of meetings for parents and children are be held in the church hall on Sunday mornings.  The programme of preparation for 2024 starts on Sunday 14th January 2024. Children celebrate their First Holy Communion together at a Sunday morning Mass in June.

 The Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated on approximately a three yearly cycle. Catechists within the parish support the preparation of young people to celebrate this Sacrament. The Sacrament of Confirmation was last celebrated in the parish in October 2017. The Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated at Saint Edmund’s in October 2024. Those of secondary school age or over who wish to celebrate this sacrament are invited to write to Father Vincent, the Parish Priest.

 The Sacrament of Marriage is celebrated upon request to the Parish Priest. Those preparing to celebrate this Sacrament are invited to attend a suitable marriage preparation course.

 The Sacrament of the Sick is celebrated upon request to the Parish Priest.
